The insult stands

You've got to admire Jeremy Clarkson. He was talking about the financial crisis in Britain and came out with this summary of British PM Gordon Brown:

"(In the UK) we've got this one-eyed Scottish idiot. He keeps telling us everything's fine and he's saved the world and we know he's lying, but he's smooth at telling us."

Several Scottish MPs and the Royal National Institute of Blind People condemned the statememt, so Clarkson made the following apology:

"In the heat of the moment I made a remark about the Prime Minister's personal appearance for which, upon reflection, I apologise," Clarkson said in a statement.

So, Clarkson has apologised for calling Gordon Brown 'one-eyed', but hasn't retracted the 'idiot', 'lying', and 'smooth' comments.
