Go Jesse Ryder!
In the past, I've not been much of a Jesse Ryder fan - I thought he'd just try to bash every ball out of the park to get an IPL contract. And his arrogant behaviour at Christchurch Hospital turned me right off.
But I've grown to admire Ryder more over the last few months. In one-day games his plan is to use his strength to bash the ball out of the ground, but that's the gameplan set for him.
In tests, he has proven his worth - the finely crafted double-century is just a continuation of his excellent batting this summer. And you don't get an average over 64 when playing England, the Windies and India by bashing every ball out of the park.
And his antics upon dismissal yesterday have confirmed it - I'm now a fan. If more Black Caps were as frustrated and angry at themselves for getting themselves out we'd have a far better cricket team. Be unrepentant, Jesse - you weren't showing dissent to an umpire, opponent or anyone but yourself.
