Folic Acid in our bread - big here, but over there?
One aspect of the debate on whether Folic Acid should be added to bread in New Zealand that has interested me is what sort of reaction is the plan getting in Australia?
I did a quick Australian Google Search on the topic (exact phrase was "Folic Acid Bread") and found a bit about the initial discussion and decision from a few years ago, and more on the recent controversy in New Zealand and how the NZ Government is looking to pull out - and little else.
While it's a big issue in New Zealand - but a big nothing in Australia. Unless that changes, the regime that the previous Labour Government agreed to (which Kate Wilkinson should start the answer to every question with) means we are stuck with the additive until we can withdraw from the Trans Tasman treaty on this item.
