Medicinal Marijuana - just like Medicinal Tobacco ...

There is one thing I can't stand, it's the argument that cannabis should be legalised for medicinal use. The idea that a harmful drug can be used to relieve some

Medical studies for the tobacco industry have found that smoking helps keep body mass down and relieves the symptoms of Parkinson's and Alzheimer's - but you would never expect a doctor to prescribe cigarettes to a patient because of the adverse side effects. Similarly, the adverse side effects of smoking marijuana would outweigh any benefits.

If we are going to have a debate about legalising marijuana, lets have some honesty - that the aim is to legalise (or decriminalise) marijuana use for the benefit of those who are using it illegally now.

  • If you were terminally ill looking for pain relief that allowed some quality of life in your last weeks I don't think the adverse effects of smoking would be much of a consideration. I certainly wouldn't be fussing over passive smoking if I was caring for the person either.

    How about amphetamines? Opioids? Morphine?
